[ USB ] transfer rate from external hard disk, flash drive, thumb drive, pen drive is slow in ubuntu แก้ปัญหา USB ช้า บน ubuntu
Today I try to transfer data from external harddisk. Transfer rate is very slow comparing to USB data transfer rate from wiki
USB 1.0 : 1.5 Mbit/s (187.5 kB/s)
USB 1.1 : 12 Mbit/s (1.5 MB/s)
USB 2.0 : 480 Mbit/s (60 MB/s)
USB 3.0 : 5.0 Gbit/s (625 MB/s)
The problem here is synchronous mounting, which is preventing damage when unplugging USB device before unmount hardware. Here is the easy way to mount USB device synchronously.
1. Go to System > Administration > Storage Device Manager ( you have to install pysdm before )
2. unchecked
- All directory updates should be done synchronously
- I/O to the file system should be done synchronously
and also unchecked
- mount this file system with read only
Now the transfer speed is increased.
TIPS : easy way to check hardware information like "devices manager" on windows
You can Generate Report in System > Preferences > System Profiler and Benchmark ( make sure that you have hardinfo installed before )
